Georgia Mom Had Her 10 Year Old Son Arrested for Misbehaving
A Georgia mother who called police to stage a mock arrest of her disobedient 10-year-old son is calling it a “tough love” reality check for him that may one day save his life.
“I just wanted to scare him. Not to harm him,” Chiquita Hill, 33,
told the Daily News Friday of Tuesday’s call to the Columbus police department. “I want him to understand that there are consequences for his actions.”
The fifth-grader had been talking back to his teacher, mouthing off and “just being rude and disrespectful,” she said.
“I understand he will act out, he’s a pre-teen. He will be going through changes as he gets older, but I want to stop it now before he gets older, like the Baltimore mom. I completely understand what she did.
That’s her only son,” the mother of three said.
Hill’s reference is to Toya Graham who also on Tuesday was filmed slapping her 16-year-old son when she caught him joining Baltimore’s violent protests following the death of Freddie Gray.
“He will not be a Freddie Gray,” Graham later said of her son while referencing the 25-year-old who died from injuries after being taken into police custody
