Minimum Education and Training:
Maintenance of a current/valid State of Florida Driver License, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire, which meets requirements outlined in the City’s Personnel Rules and Regulations Manual as well as any requirements by the City’s insurance carrier (at no additional cost, or risk), and determined by the City to be an acceptable driving record history.

Planner I:
Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree Preferred) from an accredited college or university with a major in planning.

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in public administration, geography or other closely related field plus two years of post degree professional planning or planning related experience; or

Planner II:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in planning (A Master’s Degree from a program accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board is highly desirable) plus two years of post degree professional planning experience; or

Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Preferred) from an accredited college or university with a major in public administration, geography, or other related field plus three years of post degree professional planning experience.

Planner III:
Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in planning (a program accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board is highly desirable) plus four years of post degree professional planning experience; or

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in planning (a program accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board is highly desirable) plus five years post degree professional planning experience; or

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in public administration, geography, or other related field and plus six years of post degree professional planning experience.

Supervisory experience is preferred

Possession of an active certification through the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is required within 12 months of obtaining this position.

Planner IV:
Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in planning (a program accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board is highly desirable) plus five years of post degree professional planning experience; or

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in planning (a program accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board is highly desirable) plus six years post degree professional planning experience; or

Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in public administration, geography plus eight years of post degree professional planning experience.

Supervisory experience is required.
